Sarah Tolcser lives in New Orleans, where she wrangles iPads and rogue computers at an elementary school. A graduate of St. Lawrence University, she double majored in writing and philosophy. She enjoys video games, NBA basketball, and books about girls who blow stuff up. She is married, with three cats. The C in Tolcser is silent.
Majored in creative writing, am fab at line level stuff.
Fantasy & science fiction, although I *would* jump on a contemporary if it had a STEM or geek-related element.
A Random Weird List of Things I’d Love: fantasy that’s not romance focused, fantasy not involving royalty, space pirates, nautical books, historical fantasy, historical mystery, a twist on the Victorian era we haven’t seen before ie: non-Western or delving into the flipside of British colonialism, the 1920s, Egyptology, unusual fantasy creatures, SFF with futuristic body mods, books pitched as “(name of awesome book/show) but in space.”
Not For Me: fairy tale retellings unless they’re flipped in some way–like the elves are bloodthirsty & murderous, SFF with unexplained worldbuilding elements (IN A WORLD WHERE EVERYONE IS IN FACTIONS BECAUSE), teens fated to be together.
Before I went on submission, I cut my MS down from 118K to 90K words, so if you need help with trimming the fat from a manuscript, I have a lot of insight to offer.
